URGENT TARIFF UPDATE

Ok, so which tariff news do you want first? The good news? Or the weird news?

Let’s start with the good: We've received word that our products should, in theory, be able to enter the U.S. exempt from tariffs. That’s encouraging!

But we're taking it with a grain of salt, because in the past 24 hours we've heard everything from 0% to 75% depending on who’s talking and which chart they’re looking at. So you’ll understand if we haven’t broken out the happy dance yet.

Now for the weird news: what should happen in theory - like our products crossing into the U.S. tariff-free - and what will actually happen in practice may not be the same thing.

Here’s the gist of what I’ve understood: August 29 is the date the U.S. de minimis threshold disappears. That part is clear.

What’s not clear is how U.S. Customs will handle things once it’s gone. It seems like the systems, documentation, and charts used to assess duties at the border haven’t all been updated in time to reflect this shift.

To me, it feels like a situation where people are told to “follow the rulebook,” but the rulebook itself hasn’t been updated before the new rules kick in.

What we're doing about it: as you can imagine, that leaves a whole lot of uncertainty.

We don’t love that for our U.S. customers, so we’ve decided to temporarily pause sales to the U.S. until we’re confident that products that should theoretically be tariff-free are actually being treated that way in practice.

I’ll keep you posted as this unfolds. We’re also planning to send a few test packages to friends in the U.S. to see how they’re handled, so we can be sure the process is nailed down before we reopen U.S. orders.
