A few answers about what’s changing at Eclair Lips

Eclair Lips has always been about joy.

Right from the beginning, I wanted it to be a tiny bright spot in your day. A lip balm that smells amazing, feels amazing, comes in fun flavours, and gives you one little moment that feels good.

That part is not changing.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve shared a lot about the changes happening behind the scenes at Eclair Lips and the reasons I made some difficult decisions about how the business needed to evolve.

I know those changes have raised questions, especially around manufacturing, what is still Canadian, what is still handmade, and whether the products themselves are changing.

So I wanted to put the answers in one place.

If you are here for the lip balm joy, nothing has changed.

If you are here strictly because the products were made in Canada, this may be where we part ways, and I genuinely thank you for having been part of my story in that last chapter.

Is Eclair Lips still a Canadian company?

Yes.

Eclair Lips is still a Canadian-owned and operated company. I run the business from New Brunswick, make the decisions here, and pay Canadian taxes here.

What has changed is where the products are physically made.

Where are Eclair Lips products made now?

They are now being made by Meggan’s company, Farmer’s Body, in Vermont.

Farmer’s Body is a small, woman-owned business, and Meggan and her team make the products in small batches using my formulas and the quality standards I’ve always used.

Are the formulas changing?

No.

The formulas, flavours and quality standards are staying the same.

The biggest difference is simply that they are no longer being made by my hands in New Brunswick.

Are they still handmade?

Yes.

They are still handmade in small batches by a small business.

Is Eclair Lips still family-run?

Not exactly in the same way it used to be.

I am now a single mom, and I run Eclair Lips by myself.

But this company is also where the income I use to support my daughters and myself comes from, something I appreciate now more than ever.

So while the shape of the business and my family has changed, it is still very important to my little family.

Why did you move manufacturing to the U.S.?

Because I reached a point where continuing to personally manage manufacturing was no longer sustainable for me or for the business.

A lot changed in my personal life at the same time, and I had to make decisions that would allow Eclair Lips to continue while also allowing me to be the mom and person I want to be.

Finding a manufacturing partner who could work with the number of flavours, small-batch model, formulas and scale of Eclair Lips was not simple.

The right partner for the business happened to be Farmer’s Body in Vermont.

If you want the longer version of how I got here and why I made this decision, you can read this and this, the final part of the story I shared about this transition.

Which products currently on the website were made in Canada?

That will change as we go.

At the moment, there is still stock available on the website that I made myself in Canada. As those products sell out and are restocked, the new stock will have been made in the U.S.

I can confirm that the product quality is exactly the same.

If you look closely, the main differences you may notice are some small changes to the label.

I'm not able to tell you whether the exact products in your cart are part of the batches I made or the new ones made in the US

Will the lip balm cost more now that it is made in the U.S.?

I do not currently have a price increase planned because of the manufacturing change.

Will shipping cost more?

No. Shipping prices are staying the same as they are now.

Canadian orders still ship from Canada, and U.S. orders still ship from the U.S.

That also means there are no cross-border tariffs or surprise import charges for you to pay when your order arrives.

Is Eclair Lips less Canadian now?

That depends a little on what “Canadian” means to you.

Eclair Lips is still a Canadian company. I am still here. The business is still here. The decisions are still made here.

But the products themselves are no longer being manufactured in Canada.

I completely understand that, for some people, Canadian manufacturing is an important part of how they choose what to buy.

If that is your priority, I respect that.

What is staying the same?

The part I care about most.

The formulas.

The flavours.

The quality.

The small-batch, handmade approach.

And the reason Eclair Lips existed in the first place:

To make natural lip balm that smells amazing, feels amazing, and brings a little bit of joy into ordinary moments.

That is the part I will always protect.

What if buying Canadian-made products is important to me?

Then I completely respect that.

For some people, the most important thing is that a product is manufactured in Canada.

For others, it may be supporting a Canadian-owned small business, buying handmade products, supporting a woman-owned business, or simply loving the product itself.

There isn’t one right answer.

If Canadian-made is the most important part for you, this may simply be where our paths separate.

And if it is, thank you for having been part of this story.

I’m grateful you were here for that chapter.

And if you’re here for the lip balm joy, the delicious flavours, the handmade small-batch products, and the stories I share along the way, you are still very much in the right place.

Who is your new employee and what does she do?

Her name is Coco. She keeps me company while I work. Reminds me when it's time to snuggle. Is known to sample the occasional lip balm. Her official job title is Very Bestest Girl.
